California American Exterminator now has the NightWatch Bed Bug Monitor devices in stock. The ’ÄòNightWatch Bed Bug Monitor’Äô is a new ground-breaking bed bug device that uses heat, CO2, and lure (natural host-odor attractant). It is effective in trapping all stages of the bed bug. Because bed bugs are nocturnal and most active in the early morning hours, the NightWatch Monitor has an internal microprocessor control that switches the machine on around 10pm and remains active throughout the night when the bedbugs are most active. The NightWatch Monitor turns itself off at around 6am. It simulates a sleeping 70 pound child and works in both occupied and vacant units.

The new NightWatch Bed Bug Monitors were extensively tested by Entomologists at Purdue University. The Entomologists concluded from their experiments that "pitfall traps with heat and chemical lures have potential to be useful tools for monitoring bed bug infestations and reducing bed bug numbers." The device is effective in determining the infestation levels or absents of bed bugs in apartments, hotels and homes.

It is recommended that the NightWatch units are placed in a unit for seven days. At that point they are checked for bed bug activity and the CO2 cartridge and lure are replaced. If at seven days bed bugs are found, then it is recommended that the apartment unit be treated and the monitoring program begins again. If after seven days there is no evidence of bed bugs, the NightWatch Monitor should be left in the apartment for an additional seven days. If after two weeks no bed bugs have been caught, we can be relatively assured that there is no current bed bug activity in the apartments unit.

The NightWatch Monitor will not transport bed bugs from one location to another and attracts and kills only biting insects seeking a blood meal. It is harmless to beneficial insects. It is carbon neutral. The co2 used is recycled from the atmosphere. The monitor is safe to use around children and pets.
